Anticyclonic shear
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003565
A type of wind shear where the wind speed or direction changes in a manner consistent with anticyclonic rotation, meaning a decrease in cyclonic vorticity or an increase in anticyclonic vorticity. This can occur horizontally across a flow or vertically with height. Anticyclonic shear often contributes to atmospheric stability and can inhibit the development of strong convection.
