Cyclostrophic wind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004837
A theoretical wind that results from a balance between the pressure gradient force and the centrifugal force, with the Coriolis force being considered negligible. This type of wind is characteristic of highly curved, small-scale atmospheric circulations, such as tornadoes and waterspouts, where the rotational forces dominate. The cyclostrophic wind blows parallel to circular isobars.
