Gradient wind
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006020
The theoretical horizontal wind that results from a balance between the pressure gradient force, the Coriolis force, and the centrifugal force, allowing air to flow in curved paths parallel to isobars. This wind is a more accurate approximation of actual atmospheric flow in curved systems than the geostrophic wind. It is typically stronger than the geostrophic wind around anticyclones and weaker around cyclones.
