Hydrological drought

A period of unusually low streamflow, lake levels, or groundwater levels, resulting from prolonged meteorological drought and reduced water availability in the hydrological system. It manifests as a deficit in surface or subsurface water resources, impacting water supply, agriculture, and ecosystems. Its severity is often assessed by comparing current water levels to historical averages.
