Long-term hydrological forecast

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007041

A prediction of water conditions, such as river flow, reservoir levels, and soil moisture, extending from several months to a year or more into the future. These forecasts are based on seasonal climate predictions, current hydrological conditions like snowpack, and historical data to project water supply and potential for drought or flooding. They are used for strategic water resource management, agricultural planning, and hydroelectric power generation.
