Long-train atmospherics
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007042
A type of radio atmospheric disturbance characterized by a series of closely spaced, distinct electromagnetic impulses that persist for an extended duration. These signals are generated by lightning discharges and propagate through the Earth-ionosphere waveguide. They are often observed as a 'train' of static on radio receivers, particularly in the VLF (Very Low Frequency) range.
