Hydrological element

Any component or process within the hydrologic cycle that can be measured or observed, contributing to the overall understanding of water movement and distribution. Examples include precipitation, evaporation, streamflow, soil moisture, and groundwater levels. These elements are monitored and analyzed to characterize the water balance of a region and to support meteorological and hydrological forecasting.
