Wet-bulb globe temperature

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003069

  1. A composite temperature index used to estimate the heat stress on humans in direct sunlight, incorporating air temperature, humidity, radiant heat, and wind speed. It is calculated from the wet-bulb temperature, globe temperature, and dry-bulb temperature. This index is widely used in occupational health and sports to assess heat risk.

  2. An indication of expected heat stress on humans taking into account temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover (solar radiation).
