Junk

Any unwanted metallic or hard object in a wellbore that obstructs drilling or other operations. Junk can include anything from dropped tools and broken bit components to debris from a failed downhole tool. Specialized tools such as junk baskets, magnets, and milling tools are used to retrieve or break up the debris before normal operations can resume.
