Stab
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003571
To guide the threaded pin end of a pipe joint into the box end of another joint as they are being connected. This action is performed by a crew member, the stabber, on the rig floor or in the derrick during the process of making up a connection. Proper alignment during stabbing prevents thread damage and creates a pressure-tight seal when the connection is torqued.
