Derrickman

A member of the drilling crew who works on the derrick floor or in the derrick, primarily responsible for handling the upper end of the drill pipe. This individual guides the drill pipe into and out of the derrick's fingerboard during tripping operations. The derrickman also monitors the mud system and operates mud pumps.
