Fingerboard

A structural component in the derrick or mast of a drilling rig, positioned high above the drill floor. It consists of a series of horizontal racks or shelves that support the upper ends of drill pipe, drill collars, and casing stands as they are pulled out of the wellbore. The derrickman works from a platform at the fingerboard level to guide and secure these tubulars.
