Mast

A structural component of a drilling rig that supports the crown block, traveling block, and drill string. It is a tall, open-sided framework, typically constructed in sections that are raised and lowered as a unit. Masts are designed to withstand the compressive and tensile loads exerted during drilling operations and are common on smaller, mobile drilling rigs.
