Gin pole

A single, upright mast or pole, often made of steel, used as a temporary lifting device on a well site. It is anchored at its base and supported by guy wires, with a block and tackle system attached near its top. This apparatus provides a vertical lift point for handling equipment such as blowout preventers or wellheads.
