Crown block

A stationary assembly of sheaves or pulleys located at the very top of the drilling rig's mast or derrick. It serves as the anchor point for the drilling line, which passes over its sheaves and down to the traveling block. This block supports the entire weight of the drill string and casing during hoisting operations.
