Escape line

A cable or rope running from the derrick's monkey board or crown platform to an anchor point on the ground, providing a rapid means of egress for personnel working at height. In an emergency, a crew member can use a handle attached to a pulley or a simple friction device to slide down the line to safety. The most common type is the Geronimo line, which is a specific brand of this safety device.
