Techniques and treatments applied to a wellbore to reduce or eliminate unwanted water production while maximizing hydrocarbon recovery. This involves identifying the source of water influx and then applying methods such as chemical treatments, mechanical isolation, or conformance control. Effective water control can significantly extend the economic life of a producing well.
