Weight indicator
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004129
A primary instrument on the driller's console that displays the total force pulling down on the rig's hoisting system. It measures the hookload, which is the total weight of the drill string and bottom hole assembly suspended in the wellbore. By observing changes in this measurement, the driller can calculate and control the weight on bit, a key parameter for drilling performance.
