Caking

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000063

Powder that has stuck together into clumps lodged on the surface of a part or inside its holes, pockets and channels after a powder bed fusion or binder jetting build. It resists the brushing and compressed air that remove loose powder, so it adds time and care to depowdering. Media blasting is a common way to clear caked powder from polymer parts.
