Overhang

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000260

A section of a 3D printed part that extends horizontally or at a steep angle from a lower layer without direct support from beneath. These features require careful consideration during design and printing to prevent warping, sagging, or detachment from the build plate. Angles greater than 45 degrees from the vertical typically require support structures.
