Bridging

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000044

The ability of a 3D printer to span an open gap between two raised points without direct support from below. This is achieved by extruding material across the void, relying on surface tension and rapid cooling to prevent sagging. The maximum bridge length achievable depends on factors such as material type, layer height, and cooling efficiency.
