Build volume

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000060

The maximum physical dimensions of an object that a 3D printer can produce in a single operation. This three-dimensional space is defined by the maximum travel of the machine's print head or energy source along its X, Y, and Z axes. Build volume is a key specification for any additive manufacturing system and is stated in units of volume, like cubic centimeters, or as three linear dimensions (length × width × height).
