Acoustic meatus

A passage or canal within the temporal bone of the skull, also known as the ear canal. It is divided into the external acoustic meatus, which directs sound waves from the outside to the eardrum, and the internal acoustic meatus, which transmits nerves and blood vessels to and from the inner ear. The external meatus is a tube approximately 2.5 centimeters long in adults.
