Photoacoustic effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008791
The generation of an acoustic wave in a material following the absorption of modulated or pulsed electromagnetic radiation. This effect arises from the conversion of absorbed light energy into heat, leading to thermal expansion and pressure waves. The acoustic signal can be detected by a microphone or piezoelectric transducer.
