Photoacoustic saturation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008792
A condition in photoacoustic spectroscopy where the signal no longer increases linearly with increasing incident light intensity or analyte concentration. This occurs when the rate of thermal energy conversion within the sample becomes limited, often due to the optical absorption depth becoming comparable to or smaller than the thermal diffusion depth. Saturation can lead to inaccurate quantitative measurements if not accounted for.
