Saturation activity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010527
The maximum radioactivity that can be induced in a sample when it is irradiated for an infinitely long time, or for a period much longer than several half-lives of the radionuclide produced. At this point, the rate of formation of the radionuclide equals its rate of decay. It is a characteristic value for a given nuclear reaction and irradiation flux.
