Activity growth curve
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000199
A plot of the activity of a radionuclide against time during a period when that activity is rising, either because a precursor nuclide is decaying into it or because it is being produced by activation in an irradiation. For a parent-daughter pair the shape depends on the two half-lives and approaches transient or secular equilibrium, whereas under irradiation the activity climbs toward a saturation value.
