Induced radioactivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005793
The radioactivity produced in a substance after it has been exposed to radiation, such as neutrons or high-energy charged particles. This process occurs when stable atomic nuclei absorb particles, transforming into unstable, radioactive isotopes. The induced activity decays over time according to the half-life of the newly formed radionuclide.
