Artificial radioactivity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000817
Radioactivity induced in a stable nuclide by bombarding it with energetic particles, such as neutrons, protons, or alpha particles. This process transforms the stable nuclide into a radioactive isotope that subsequently decays. It is also known as induced radioactivity and is the basis for producing many radioisotopes used in medicine and research.
