Artificial polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000816
Any polymer produced by people rather than by living organisms and not itself a biopolymer, which covers fully synthetic polymers such as polyethylene as well as chemically modified biopolymers such as cellulose acetate and cellulose nitrate. Laboratory copies of biopolymers are called synthetic biopolymers instead.
