Photoacoustic detector
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008790
A device that measures the acoustic waves generated when a sample absorbs modulated electromagnetic radiation. The absorbed energy causes localized heating and expansion, producing pressure waves that are detected by a microphone. This detector is highly sensitive and can be used for both gaseous and condensed phase samples, providing information about their optical absorption properties.
