Radiationless deactivation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009836
The process by which an excited electronic state of an atom or molecule loses its excitation energy without the emission of a photon. This energy is typically converted into vibrational or rotational energy within the molecule or transferred to the surrounding environment as heat. Examples include internal conversion and intersystem crossing.
