Non-radiative decay

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008046

The process by which an excited electronic state of a molecule loses energy without emitting a photon. This energy is typically converted into vibrational or rotational energy within the molecule or transferred to the surrounding environment as heat. Internal conversion and intersystem crossing are two common non-radiative decay pathways.
