Photothermal effect
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008933
The generation of heat within a material following the absorption of light, resulting from the non-radiative relaxation of excited electronic states. This conversion of light energy into thermal energy can lead to a localized temperature increase. The effect is exploited in applications such as photothermal therapy and spectroscopy.
