Phototautomerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008932
A light-induced interconversion between two tautomeric forms of a molecule. This process involves the migration of a hydrogen atom or proton, accompanied by a rearrangement of double bonds, which is triggered by the absorption of a photon. Phototautomerisation can lead to changes in the spectroscopic properties, reactivity, or biological activity of the molecule, and is often observed in heterocyclic compounds.
