Hydrogen shifts
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005471
A type of rearrangement reaction observed in mass spectrometry where a hydrogen atom or proton migrates within an ion. This migration typically occurs prior to or during fragmentation, influencing the observed mass spectral pattern. These shifts can complicate structural elucidation but also provide insights into reaction mechanisms.
