Tautomerization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011831
A reversible interconversion between two isomers, called tautomers, that differ in the position of a hydrogen atom and a pi bond. This process involves the migration of a proton and a shift in electron density. Keto-enol tautomerism is a common example, where a ketone or aldehyde interconverts with its enol form.
