Photosystem

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008931

A functional biochemical unit found in photosynthetic organisms that captures light energy and converts it into chemical energy. This complex consists of pigments, proteins, and other molecules organized to facilitate light absorption and electron transfer reactions. Photosystems are categorized into Photosystem I and Photosystem II, each with distinct roles in the overall photosynthetic process.
