Simultaneous pair transitions

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010881

A process in which two or more atoms or molecules simultaneously absorb a single photon, leading to the excitation of both species. This phenomenon is a type of cooperative absorption, where the energy of the photon is shared between the interacting entities. It is observed in certain condensed phases and can lead to unusual spectroscopic features.
