As low as reasonably achievable

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000827

A principle in risk management, particularly in radiation protection and environmental safety, that aims to keep exposures to hazardous substances or activities as low as economic and social factors permit. This approach goes beyond simply meeting regulatory limits, striving for further reduction of risk where practical. It is a guiding principle in many regulatory frameworks, such as those for nuclear safety.
