Tolerable risk

A level of risk that is considered acceptable in a given context, taking into account the benefits of the activity or substance and the costs of further risk reduction. This concept acknowledges that zero risk is rarely achievable and involves societal judgments about what constitutes an acceptable balance. It is often established by regulatory bodies for environmental or health hazards.
