Automation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000993
The use of devices and control systems to replace human intervention in an analytical procedure. Automation involves integrating instruments with programmable logic to manage operations such as sample preparation, measurement, data processing, and result reporting without manual input. In contrast to mechanization, which replaces manual labor with machines under operator control, a fully automated system can make decisions and proceed through a predefined analytical sequence independently.
