Environmental exposure level
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003975
The concentration of a chemical or physical agent in an environmental medium, such as air, water, soil, or food, that comes into contact with the outer boundary of an organism. It is a measure of the potential for exposure and is distinct from the actual dose absorbed by the organism. This level is expressed in units of mass per unit volume or mass, for example, micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m³) for air.
