Extracted ion chromatogram

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004285

A chromatogram obtained by plotting the abundance of one or more specific ions, or a narrow range of m/z values, as a function of chromatographic retention time. This technique is particularly useful for identifying and quantifying specific compounds within complex mixtures analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry or liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. The resulting plot provides a selective view of the components that produce the selected ions.
