Selected ion monitoring

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010666

A mass spectrometry technique where the detector is set to monitor only a few specific ion m/z (mass-to-charge ratio) values rather than scanning a full mass range. This method enhances sensitivity and selectivity for target compounds by focusing on their characteristic fragment ions. It is frequently employed for quantitative analysis of trace components in complex mixtures.
