Selected ion flow tube
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013535
An analytical instrument used in mass spectrometry to study gas-phase ion-molecule reactions at thermal energies. It involves the generation of specific reactant ions, which are then injected into a flowing carrier gas where they react with neutral molecules. The products of these reactions are subsequently analyzed by a mass spectrometer, providing kinetic and mechanistic information.
