Ion/neutral complex

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006132

A transient species formed by the non-covalent association of an ion and a neutral molecule. This complex is often an intermediate in gas-phase ion-molecule reactions, where the ion and neutral interact through electrostatic forces. Its formation can influence reaction pathways and product distributions in mass spectrometry.
