Dwell time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003484
The time interval between successive sampled data points in a digitised spectroscopic signal, or the time a scanning detector spends measuring at each point. In NMR it equals the reciprocal of the spectral width, so a spectral width of 10 kHz corresponds to a dwell time of 100 microseconds. In mass spectrometry it is the time spent monitoring one selected ion.
