Humoral
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005429
Relating to the components within body fluids (humors), such as blood plasma, lymph, and tissue fluids, as distinct from cellular components. The term is most often used in immunology to describe substances like antibodies and complement proteins that circulate in these fluids and mediate specific defense mechanisms. This humoral immunity is contrasted with cell-mediated immunity, which is carried out by T lymphocytes and other cells.
