Patentability

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008541

The set of legal conditions an invention must meet to be granted a patent, generally novelty, an inventive step (non-obviousness), industrial applicability or utility, and a sufficiently clear and complete description. Each national or regional patent office, such as the USPTO or the European Patent Office, applies these conditions under its own law. The TRIPS Agreement sets a common minimum standard, but details differ between jurisdictions.
